Our Decor
For 100 years, the School House served as a place of learning (1908-2007). Our decorating is a mix of styles that memorialize two histories. One history is the reflection on the Germanic people who were residents of Jacksonville in its early days. They brought stability and family values to Jacksonville and, their children attended school here. The other is the building’s own story. We have tried to capture its history and preserve it for future generations.

The Restaurant occupies the space that was once the school Cafeteria. The owners were able to purchase many items from the 549C School District for use in furnishing the Restaurant. The “weathered” tables in the front were formally used as shop tables at North Medford High School. The brick columns were all constructed using reclaimed bricks from two less fortunate public school buildings in Medford that were razed in 2009 (Roosevelt and Jackson). The flooring was reclaimed from one of the Annex classrooms on the Campus. Most of the single pane windows are original. But the owners are most proud of their collection of text books. The collection includes books used by the early students (with many of the books in German) all the way up to modern textbooks. Feel free to check out a physics or chemistry book or even read a politically incorrect, “discarded” library book! If you know how to use an encyclopedia those are available too!
